It's been a really nice Christmas season. All the events leading up to Christmas are just as fun as Christmas Day itself. We did things like:
Santa Claus parade
Christmas party for kids and visit with Santa (through my husband's work)
A few Christmas parties with friends and family
Singing Christmas carols with the guitar with my daughters
Making Christmas Nativity Scene story stones with my older daughter (see previous post)
Decorating cookies
Kids' Christmas party at church along with singing in the choir
-Didn't get to go to our daughter's school Open House or school skate like last year since she was sick!...
Putting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house
Driving around town to look at the Christmas lights and play a Christmas light/decoration scavenger hunt.
Reading Christmas-y books every night with my daughters.

I grew up with this one! I wish I still had my copy. I always loved the sugar plum illustration. I wanted to go to sleep in a bed like that, with a nightcap and nice quilt. Merry, Merry Christmas!!!

DeleteCorrine Malvern had a special touch of magic. When I used to look at "Nurse Nancy", "Doctor Dan", "Heidi", "Nursery Songs"(and so many other LGBs) as a small child in the 50's - the experience was formative. This was an idealized version of how the world looked. Dare I say it? I like her illustrations better than Eloise Wilkins'. Wilkins artwork can be too sentimental and solemn. But Corrine Malvern managed to avoid sentimentality somehow, in my eyes. There is a kick of fun in her illustrations.
