Baby's First Book - a Ladybird Book

Posted by PicasaThis Ladybird book for babies inspired me to use this post to tell a bit about my baby daughter Tegan Lucy.  Tegan is now 20 months old.  When she was born she came in a big hurry - from the first contraction to when she was born took all of 2.5 hours.  I totally was not expecting this since her big sister Keira took about 30 hours from start to finish! She is starting to learn more words lately - I think her first real word was 'apple'.  She really likes to look at books with pictures of things that she can recognize, point to, and sometimes say the word or make the animal sound for.  Right now her favourite song is "Old MacDonald".  She likes playing with her Little People sets, blocks, musical toys, or anything that she knows she is not supposed to have, haha!  She and her big sister like to play 'chase' together.  She really likes to eat any kind of fruit but she refuses to drink cow's milk at all.  Right now she still has a cold and it's so hard to fall asleep at night when she can't breathe properly - I hate it when she is sick, I feel so bad!  Oh and I have to mention one more thing about Tegan - she sometimes does this craaaazy laugh - my husband and older daughter and I refer to it by several names- the 'leprechaun' laugh, the 'crazy chipmunk' laugh, or the 'kookaburra' laugh.  :)  I really need to get it on video - it is way too funny!

So what have YOUR babies been up to?

  1. This book is awesome! I love the typeset. Babies are so cute at Tegan's age. Little Sis was such a scream. My niece is almost 14 months now, so she'll be there soon enough. Crazy baby laughs are the best!

    1. Your niece lives close by to you, right? I think you mentioned something about babysitting before? That's good - that way you can still have a 'baby fix' when you need one! My sister lives close by to me - my nephew is 2 months older than Tegan and now their next baby is on the way so I'll be able to hold a newborn again from time to time!

  3. Another great find! My baby isn't a baby anymore. She turns three in March. BUT we'll have a new baby in the house at the beginning of July... so it's all good.

    1. Oh that's great news Robyn! How have you been feeling? Have you told your older daughter about the baby yet? I remember when we told Keira that she was going to have a baby sister - she gasped and said "Today????" (She was 4 and a half years old and I was only 11 weeks pregnant, haha!)

    2. I'm afraid I don't ever feel good during pregnancy... but I am past the worst (I'm 15wks) though I still get pretty nauseous even now, which will last until about week 30 if past pregnancies indicate. Yes! We told the kids when I was 11 weeks. They were all very excited! I love Keira's reaction when you told her, that's priceless! Miss Kitten is younger, she'll turn 3 in march. She said "Mama, how did that baby get in your belly? Did you eat that tiny baby?" LOL I'm still cracking up over that!!!

    3. You sound like me - I was sick all the way through my pregnancies, although it did keep getting better and better, it never completely went away. LOL I always wonder too if little kids are freaked out by the fact that there's a baby in mommy's tummy - such a weird concept for them to grasp! :)

  4. This is such a sweet book! My little granddaughter (2 years old on Monday) is really funny. I was talking to her mummy on the ‘phone yesterday, and Zoe kept taking the phone and singing “ee-eye, ee-eye oh”. I sang Old Macdonald had a farm to her while I was in Australia at Christmas (lots of times) but ee-eye, ee-eye oh is all she can remember – she is driving her mummy and daddy mad singing it all the time. I can’t tell you how much I miss that little girl and her baby sister.
    Get well soon Tegan.
