More Carols Pop-Up Book

Well one year later here I am!  I can’t believe i haven’t blogged for all of 2017. I must do better next year!  This Christmas carol pop-up book os so cool. I love these illustrations by the Johnstones.  Click on the tabs on the side of the blog for more Johnstones illustrations and books by Deans publishing.  I picked up this book for a quarter!  Sometimes I find books that are a treasure to me at used book sales.     Happy holidays to everyone and a happy 2018!  I am looking forward to time with family and friends, special music at church for Christmas Eve, and driving to look at special Christmas light displays.

Little Tots' Book of Nursery Rhymes - A Dean Board Book

Posted by PicasaA quick post for you tonight before my toddler wakes up with her stuffy nose again - this is a Dean board book published in 1979 with illustrations by the Johnstones that I recently bought at a used book store.  It's among the many books I gave my daughters for Christmas!  This book has many of the same pages in it that my "Deans Mother Goose Book of Rhymes" has in it but I was so happy to find this one as a board book!  That way I can let my toddler look at it and not worry about it getting ruined.  Then I can show her the more comprehensive one when she gets older.  Take a look at my other Deans/Johnstones posts as well though if you haven't already, as the pictures I posted there are different from the ones here.

Another amazing book illustrated by Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone for you.  They were twins - Janet drew the animals and Anne drew the period costumes.  They illustrated more than 100 books.  Before my 15-month old baby daughter was born, I used mod-podge to mount some pictures that I took out of my second copy of the Dean/Johnstones book of Mother Goose - I didn't post those pictures on that blog post at the time so I will post them here.  As you can see they are not actually on the wall of the nursery as they are supposed to be yet!!  I really must get around to doing that ...

Deans Mother Goose Book of Rhymes

Love this.  Published in 1977.  Found it at a book sale for dirt cheap - one of those ones that makes you think - "why would anyone give this away??"  Illustrations are very important to me in a vintage children's book, and these are amazing and fun.  I also like this book because as a teacher I have noticed that kids these days don't seem to know very many nursery rhymes that well and also have not been exposed to much poetry.  Does anyone else remember this book?
