Doctor Dan the Bandage Man is illustrated by Corinne Malvern - love her. Numbers is illustrated by Violet LaMont, best known for her work on Little Black Sambo. Mister Dog is brought to us by the well-known Margaret Wise Brown (writer of Goodnight Moon, etc) and illustrator Garth Williams (Little House on the Prairie, Charlotte's Web, etc.) This book is so original, it makes me laugh - 'the dog who belonged to himself', 'Crispin's Crispian', the image of the dog in the housecoat making himself breakfast, etc.
I love this book and I remember watching the film strip at school when I was a kid. Great memories! I love the theme music for the character of Peter. The wolf was sooo scary though! "Peter and the Wolf" is a composition written by Prokofiev in 1936.
I scored a few of these Sesame Street Library books at a used book sale - they are so cool. Remember how infuriating it was when the grown-ups wouldn't believe that Snuffalupagus was real? :) And how sad it was when Mr. Hooper died? How funny Ernie and Bert were? One of these days I'm going to have to do a Retro TV and Toys post about our Old School Sesame Street dvd's...
